Text Box: This program emphasizes play, art, motor skill and sensory experiences that are specifically designed to encourage creativity, learning, fun and success. The children are divided into two rooms, by age, however the lesson plans and philosophies remain the same.  The lesson plans encompass art, fine motor, sensory, gross motor, music, math, science and language arts. The activities are teacher directed but child inspired. The children also participate in a short circle time and love to read stories, do fingerplays and sing songs frequently throughout the day. The teachers’ goal is to stimulate the child’s natural curiosity to learn, explore, and discover by providing experiences that challenge growth, yet are within the child’s range for success. Social and emotional growth are also a focus of this classroom’s daily routine. Each child forms relationships with the other children around him or her. The teachers positively encourage these by facilitating conflict resolution and modeling the use of words to communicate with instead of physical or vocal means (hitting, pushing, screaming or yelling). Positive reinforcement and gentle redirection are used consistently and often with the children.
